00-Evolving Crater.gifEvolving Crater1050 visiteLunar Explorer Italia, vista l'intensa e motivata partecipazione di tanti Lettori, ha deciso di aprire una nuova Sezione Maggiore la quale verrà dedicata ai loro Lavori. Si tratta di Opere Interpretative o Divulgative che, per impegno e completezza, ci è sembrato che meritassero di trovare uno spazio sulle nostre pagine.
Non siamo tutti quanti Scienziati e quindi non ci si deve attendere lavori di tipo "Universitario": questa Sezione è riservata, infatti, a quegli Appassionati e Studiosi della Materia - a qualsiasi titolo e livello - i quali hanno qualcosa da dire.
Lun-Ex-It, nelle sue premesse, era ed è anche una (piccola) Tribuna dalla quale chiunque si può affacciare e dire qualcosa.
E non servirà gridare poiché gli Amici di Lun-Ex-It non sono sordi.
Uno spazio ai Lettori lo avevamo già riservato, per il "Campo Artistico", nella Sezione Deep-Sky e l'iniziativa, statistiche alla mano, è stata un successo. Adesso i Lettori che non hanno paura di esprimersi potranno formulare “in chiaro” le loro idee sull’Universo che ci circonda.
Grazie di cuore, quindi, Buon Lavoro e Benvenuto a chiunque voglia raccontarci qualcosa delle proprie Ricerche e Convinzioni in ordine a questo infinito, affascinante e sempre più controverso Campo della nostra – imperfetta – Conoscenza (le immagini di supporto sono gradite).

We are not all Scientists so, please, do not expect any "graduated-like" Work here: this Section is just given to those who have something to 'Show&Tell', no matter what their "cv" might say: anybody can come to this (small) Tribune and speak-up (but nobody needs to scream, because Lunar Explorer's Friends are not deaf).
A small space for the Readers had already been created in the Deep Sky Section and, we must say, after a little more than a year, the stats show that the experiment was successful. Now therefore, after Writers&Poets, it is time to listen to what our Truth-Seeking Friends have to say about the Moon, Mars and the Universe.
So, if you are not scared of your own ideas and opinions being - let's say - "exposed", write us!

000-Ceres~0.jpgBig Asteroid or Small Planet?66 visiteLa decisione non è stata ancora presa, ma il problema rimane: 1-Cerere è un "grande" Asteroide o un "piccolo" Pianeta?
A parte tutto, Cerere sembra proprio essere un mondo a sè: le sue dimensioni (circa 930 Km di iametro) sono modeste ma, per un asteroide, alquanto consistenti (Cerere è comunque l'oggetto conosciuto più grande fra le (decine di) migliaia che si trovano in quella regione di spazio compresa fra le orbite di Marte e Giove e che è comunemente conosciuta come "Cintura degli Asteroidi" (o Asteroids' Belt).
Di 1-Cerere si parla molto in questi giorni perchè la IAU (International Astronomical Union) sta valutando se conferire a questo Corpo Celeste lo "status" di Pianeta vero e proprio oppure no, ma la NASA - a quanto si sa - era già da tempo interessata a questo piccolo mondo ed infatti, proprio in questi giorni, è in fase di completamento la preparazione della Sonda "Dawn" (alba) la quale verrà lanciata nel 2007 (forse a Giugno) e che dovrebbe raggiungere e studiare MOLTO da vicino l'asteroide Vesta (nel 2011) e - guarda caso... - proprio 1-Cerere, nel 2015 (l'Anno del possibile - ed auspicabile - "contatto" fra l'altra Sonda New Horizons ed il Doppio Pianeta - o Sistema Binario formato da - Plutone e Caronte.

According to the ancient Greeks, the bird lives in Arabia, nearby a cool well and sings a beautiful morning song. The Phoenix lives 500 years or longer with only one Phoenix existing at a time.
When the bird's death approaches, it bursts into flames, and a new bird springs from the consumed pyre.
Similar to its namesake, the Phoenix Mission "raises from the ashes" a spacecraft and instruments from 2 previous unsuccessful attempts to explore Mars: the Mars Polar Lander and the Mars Surveyor 2001 Lander. The Mars Polar Lander failed to return data upon its arrival to Mars' antarctic region on December 3, 1999 and left many ambitious science goals undone. Phoenix uses 3 instruments from this earlier Polar Lander, the SSI, the RA and the TEGA.
The Phoenix Mission uses the Mars Surveyor 2001 Lander, built in 2000, but later administratively mothballed. The '01 lander is undergoing modifications to improve the spacecraft's robustness and safety during entry, descent, and landing. Phoenix recovers two instruments delivered for the '01 lander that have been in protected storage: the MARDI and the MECA. Also, the RA has been modified from the '01 lander version.

Nota: i diversi diametri sono stati ipotizzati ragionando in termini di UA (Unità Astronomiche), laddove 1 UA = distanza Sole / Terra = 149.597.970 Km
ergo la distanza fra il Sole e Mercurio viene fatta mediamente pari a (circa *) 0,4 UA
fra il Sole e Venere è mediamente pari a (circa) 0,7 UA
fra il Sole e Marte è mediamente pari a (circa) 1,5 UA
fra il Sole e Giove è mediamente pari a (circa) 5,2 UA
fra il Sole e Saturno è mediamente pari a (circa) 9,5 UA
fra il Sole ed Urano è mediamente pari a (circa) 19,6 UA
fra il Sole e Nettuno è mediamente pari a (circa) 30 UA
fra il Sole ed il Sistema Binario Plutone-Caronte è mediamente pari a (circa) 39 UA
* diciamo circa perchè le orbite dei diversi Pianeti attorno al Sole NON descrivono cerchi perfetti (e quindi con raggio - distanza dal Sole - fisso), bensì delle ellissi più o meno allungate (le quali implicano l'esistenza di un "perielio" - o punto di massima vicinanza del Corpo Celeste considerato rispetto al Sole - ed un "afelio" - o punto di massima lontananza del Corpo Celeste considerato rispetto al Sole.MareKromium

An important confirmation that Methane exists in the Atmosphere of Mars occurred last week, bolstering previous controversial claims made as early as 2003. The confirmation was made spectroscopically using large ground-based telescopes by finding precise colors absorbed on Mars that match those absorbed by Methane on Earth.
Given that Methane is destroyed in the open martian air in a matter of years, the present existence of the fragile gas indicates that it is currently being released, somehow, from the Surface of Mars.
One prospect is that microbes living underground are creating it, or created in the past. If true, this opens the exciting possibility that life might be present under the Surface of Mars even today. Given the present data, however, it is also possible that a purely geologic process, potentially involving volcanism or rust and not involving any life forms, is the Methane creator.

Nota Lunexit: se la Mappa NASA è realmente accurata ed il quantitativo di Metano presente in Atmosfera è quello "suggerito" dalla Mappa stessa, allora - sempre seguendo la "Logica NASA" - ci troveremmo davanti a due possibili scenari:
1) Scenario Geologico (Metano come prodotto di processi geologici): Marte è ancora soggetto attivo di fenomeni vulcanici tutt'altro che minori e residuali, visti i quantitativi e la distribuzione del Metano nell'Atmosfera del Pianeta Rosso, oppure
2) Scenario Biologico (Metano come sottoprodotto di attività biologiche attuali): Marte è, letteralmente, "brulicante di Vita" - altro che batteri e micro-organismi - visti, come sopra, i quantitativi e la distribuzione del Metano nell'Atmosfera del Pianeta Rosso.
SOTTOLINEIAMO che queste nostre congetture DERIVANO LOGICAMENTE DALL'ANALISI DEI DATI NASA e NON da nostre speculazioni!
Vi suggeriamo, inoltre, di notare la posizione dei maggiori quantitativi di Metano nell'Atmosfera Marziana...MareKromium

At least four photographic surveys have been reported (December 12 and 14, February 28 and March 12). Images were returned by pulse-code modulation over the decimeter-band telemetry channel, after the centimeter-band pulse-position modulation system failed.
The decimeter transmitter suffered from intermittant failures and was used very cautiously. Only after important science data was gathered, a small number of images at LR were transmitted (using a 256-line mode). The color image of Mars (picture n. 1) is a composite from the 52 mm camera, using its program of cycling red, green and blue glass filters.

Ovviamente noi non abbiamo idea se la superficie di Marte nella sua Regione Sud-Polare sia simile a quanto ipotizzato dalla NASA in questo frame o no, ma una cosa è certa: il frame NASA è errato dal punto di vista della luminosità apparente del paesaggio il quale, sempre secondo i loro Scienziati, dovrebbe essere cupo e molto polveroso.
